Fabulous Faces

Friday, August 23, 2019

Creating faces we like can be a challenge for many. But fear not! I have a very simple, step-by-step solution to making fabulous faces you are sure to be proud of! Whether you are a beginner or have a little experience drawing faces, this workshop is for you! We will first focus on learning the proportions of realistic faces and then, from there, learn how to create stylized, or more dramatic and unique faces with character and life in their eyes. I’ll show you several tricks that make creating faces a joy in your art journal, as well as how to give the face some realistic shading and highlights that add depth and character.

DIY Art Supplies

Saturday, August 24, 2019

Who says you need expensive tools and supplies to make great art and have fun? In this class, I’ll show you all my artist tricks on how I save money creating my own stamps, stencils, texture tools, alcohol inks, and more! Creating your own tools not only saves money, but more importantly, it is integral to your own unique journey as an artist! Make stencils, stamps, and texture tools that are unique to YOU. The second half of class will include a chance to play in our art journals with our new stencils, stamps, and tools!  We'll create our own unique collage papers and I’ll show you how to make some fun, vibrant pages and how to layer and work with your new goodies!

Abstract Art Journal Bliss

Sunday, August 25, 2019

Let’s spend the day immersed in our art journals learning how to create luscious, layered, textured, colorful abstracts! We’ll start off by creating our own unique collage paper, using a variety of mixed-media art materials and techniques. This will give us a chance to learn how to combine colors and textures and to create pieces to use later in our journals. It’s also a way to practice with the materials and techniques such as: gelli printing, texture plate rubbings, watercolor and oil pastel resists, layering spray inks, adding paint pen marks, drips and splatters. We’ll move to our journal pages where we’ll build layers of oil pastels, acrylic paint, spray inks, and more.
