How to Make DIY Alcohol Ink & Clean Dried Paint from Brushes

There are so many great ways to use common household items in your art studio that can save you money!  Did you know that you can make your own alcohol inks with rubbing alcohol and dye?  In this video tutorial, I'll show you how to create your own diy alcohol ink.

The supplies are super simple:  You just need some isopropyl rubbing alcohol (preferably 91%, but just use what you have), liquid or powdered dye (like Rit or Jacquard), Darice needle tip applicator bottles . If you'd like to try the galaxy-inspired background papers (pictured above), you'll also need glossy photo paper, a white paint pen, and baby wipes.

As a bonus tip, I'll also show you how to clean dried paint off your brushes!  I know we've all had the problem of working with acrylic paint and then we get distracted or called away from our project only to come back to ruined brushes!  But with this simple art supply hack, you can clean up those paint-encrusted brushes in no time.  No more throwing out perfectly good brushes!

I hope you enjoyed my Quick Tip Tuesday video for the Shawn Petite Create Team!  I'd love to see what you've created and please share if you have any creative uses for rubbing alcohol (or other household items!) in your art studio!
